In the deepest heart of the Island, where summers are hot and winters mild, Duca di Salaparuta chooses to cultivate a vine much loved throughout Italy: Vermentino, from which Sentiero del Vento is born. A new interpretation of the grape and embodying the desire to tread new paths.
Vintage
Sicily was characterized by a dry autumn in 2022, with a cool spring and abundant continuous rainfall until June 2023. From June to July 2023, mild, almost spring-like temperatures were observed. The Sicilian summer truly began in early July with continuous temperature increases until harvest time. The excellent ripeness of the grapes was guaranteed by a postponed harvest.
Harvest
The harvest took place on 28/08/2023.
After destemming the grapes, soft pressing is carried out to obtain free-run must which, after static sedimentation, begins fermentation at controlled temperatures of 16-18 °C for about 15 days. After fermentation, the wine remains in contact with its fine lees, resulting from the lysis of the fermentation yeasts, for at least 4 months. The wine then ages in bottle for at least one month before commercialization.
